About the JCRC
The Jarbidge Canyon Retreat Center
The Jarbidge Canyon Retreat Center (JCRC) is not a typical retreat center-it's small and very private. It's also a work-in-progress and our first step is to offer a lovely rental space called “The Eagle’s Nest” which is perfect for writers, artists and nature lovers as a place to retreat in this inspiring setting (for more information about renting the Eagle's Nest, click the button to the right or the link below). At an elevation of 6,000 feet, this is a four-season environment and the Nest will be available for rent nearly year round. Each season has its own beauty and appeal for those who crave peace and quiet while surrounded by the dynamic cycles of nature.

The JCRC is off-the-grid, so guests are able to experience just what it’s like to use power provided by the sun and the wind. While requiring a certain mindfulness, the transition is effortless, comfortable and even rewarding for most people who have the opportunity to live with it for a time.
The west fork of the Jarbidge River runs through the property and is lined by tall cottonwoods, flanked by a lovely meadow and aspen grove. Here too, Deer Creek joins the river which is why the property has historically been referred to as “Deer Creek.” Guests are welcome to enjoy strolling along the river, just hanging out and taking in the light and the beauty or cooling off on a summer afternoon.
Hiking is right outside the door and one could ramble for hours, days, months or years in this wide open country of unparalleled beauty! Just be prepared and be safe.
If you’re wondering about the best times to visit, we recommend you consider the following:
► Wildflower Season peaks around the 4th of July, depending on the weather. If you want to avoid the holiday weekend, come before or after.

"Best sleep I've had in ages! You have an awesome place!"
-Jackie Plastino
"We were born of wilderness, and we respond to it more than we sometimes realize. We depend upon it increasingly for relief from the termite life we have created. Factories, power plants, resorts we can make anywhere. Wilderness, once we have given it up, is beyond our reconstruction."
−Wallace Stegner
"To the eyes of the man of imagination, Nature is imagination itself."
-William Blake
“Let the waters settle; you will see stars and moon mirrored in your Being.”
−Rumi
“If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you”
−Jesus Christ

► Fall Colors peak in the high country hereabouts in September and in Jarbidge Canyon in October. Again these are estimates depending on the weather.

► Anytime: you can discover the night sky as few ever see it! Jarbidge Canyon has some of the cleanest air in the lower 48 and truly dark night skies! Consider the Perseids Meteor Shower from mid-July through mid-August: it's a spectacular show. ► Winter is also a special time here in the mountains. Snowshoeing and cross country skiing are great ways to experience this country when the snow’s on the ground. And, the area is at its most quiet in winter after the holidays. If you’re a storm watcher, you could be in for
a rush!
